Order Entry Window - In Depth Explanation

Please see the video below for an in depth explanation on the Order Entry window.

Ross goes over the basics of entering limit orders and the window's functions.

At the bottom of your Level 2 order entry window you might notice a few symbols on the left you can see markets the stock is hosted on:

  • A = NYSE MKT
  • N = New York Stock Exchange (NYSE)
  • P = NYSE ARCA
  • Z = BATS Global Markets (BATS)
  • V = Investors' Exchange, LLC (IEXG)

Then you can see :

  • ETB, which means easy to borrow (helpful for shorting)
  • SSR, which means short sale restrictions
  • Flat, which means your position is flat
  • Long, which means you are long the stock
  • Short, which means you are short the stock
